Invitation to Religious Media and Organizations to Make the World Better
We need to collaborate.
Many people -- religious and nonreligious -- have a sentimental notion that love is the key to making the world better. Others who are more pragmatic believe that political activism, government, religion and money are the keys to universal peace, security and well-being.
Some religious people hope that prayer, fasting and spiritual warfare will somehow move God to spiritually energize their activism. They would never admit it, but history shows that religion and activism lack the power to make the world better.
No doubt political and religious activists are sincere in their beliefs and do their best to effect positive change. But, despite their good intentions, political activism, money, spiritual warfare and prayer have not made the world better. It’s a mess.
I agree with those who say that love is the answer, but before you dismiss me as an Age of Aquarius throwback, understand that my concept of love is not sentimental, kumbaya, human love. Human love does not have the power to change hearts and minds. Godly love, however, does have that kind of power. Anyone who doubts this statement, should imagine what the world would be like if everyone lived by the principles found in this link which represents a small sample of the nature of Godly love.
I will offend many when I say that Christians and Jews do not know the difference between Godly love and human love. If they did know, the world would not be in the mess it is in. Furthermore, the way I see it, Jews or Christians need prodding to teach themselves and the world how to practice Godly love. The question is: will they step up to the task?
I am on a mission to teach the world about that difference. It is an audacious undertaking for which I am ill equipped but compelled by global suffering and injustice to do whatever I can do to make the world a better place. With this email I am inviting religious media and organizations to consider making this their mission also.
The main platforms for my mission are two websites: Confronting Christian Nationalism and Make the World Better: Love Your Neighbor. Religion Detox Network is another website I refer to often. I strongly recommend them to you and I challenge you to consider how you can use your communication platforms to share them with your religious constituents.
You may be interested to know that I have also invited religion journalists and scholars to join this effort by using their respective internet platforms to communicate the principles of Godly love to their followers.
My part of the collaboration is to post content in Substack related to the theme of Make the World Better: Love your neighbor. My posts will always use scripture to teach simple, doable ways to practice Godly love. You will want to read two published posts (What the Bible Says About Immigrants, Strangers, Aliens and Enemies and Do Not Seek Revenge and Retribution) to understand the direction I am going. My plan is to post one or two similar articles each week.
You will notice an option to subscribe to my Substack posts at the bottom of this page. If you choose to subscribe, you will be sure to receive notices of all future posts. Even if you do not subscribe, however, I will continue to send email notices to you unless you tell me that you want your address removed from my list.
Choosing to subscribe does not automatically make you a collaborator. As I see them, collaborators are totally independent agents who publish what they want, when they want. There is no membership, no dues, no logo, no newsletter or secret handshake. We are bound together only by our common interest to make the world better.
